Think of a famous Photo.

I thought of V-J Day in Times Square too, but for some reason I thought of this parody and this parody before the original.

I usually think of this as the iconic Hubble photo.

I love that image. So flippin’ cool.

I tried not to, but yes, I thought of The Kiss first.

The next pic I thought of was the hidden camera shot taken at the electrocution of Ruth Snyder in 1928, which ran in the New York Daily News the next day under the huge, screaming, blood-chilling headline:
DEAD!**

That was mine, too.

Mine was Earthrise, and I was pretty surprised that it got to the second page without being mentioned.

Followed by the Exploding Shuttle Challenger or one of the Nuclear tests.

Ah- thanks for the correction. It’s a sequence of pics but not an actual film. (If you flip them fast, though, maybe it’ll be similar. )

Something like a .gif perhaps?

Unlucky guy getting shot in the head, NSFW:

I’m very surprised no one has said this yet (unless I missed it?). It was the first I thought of, and I expected it to be the most common picture, really…

Yes, you missed it. Check out post #4.

I haven’t looked at anyone else’s submissions, but mine is this one.

There actually is a film of that execution, as well, although it was the Eddie Adams photo that lingered in the public consciousness. Interview (complete with video of execution) with Eddie here.

This is the image that I thought of first. Fire safety is something of a interest of mine, and I have a huge fear of falling, too. So… it sticks in my mind.

Hmm, I thought of this photo of Winston Churchill. How boring.

The photo mentioned upthread of the child stalked by a vulture during the Sudan Famine kills me every time I see it.

That was mine.

If I had ever seen this one before today, it would have been #1. Beats all the blood and guts for gross.

What happened to the child? I’m assuming after the photographer snapped the picture, he chased away the vulture and snatched up the child and took him to safety?

My first was the Kent State one, then this popped into my head.

That one was mine, and the Afghan girl was my second.

I’ll offer this one without looking at the rest of the thread…

I thought of the Afghan girl also.
