Well, he didn’t say pick a number between. He said “think of a number one through four.” Now whether some people exclude that based on how they hear the problem, who knows. (And many Dopers have picked irrational numbers just to tick off Scylla.) However, I am greatly skeptical that 95% of people choose “3.” I do think a slight statistical bias toward the numbers 2 and 3 would be evident. But such an overwhelming bias seems ludicrous.
First Scylla guesses the wrong number (I picked 4) and then I find out he used to play D&D when he was younger.
