Think of think....

Good luck on a speedy recovery, buddy. Just be glad you can breathe through your nose. (You can breathe through your nose, can’t you?) Gotta love laser technology, eh. Better than what my grandfather went through when he was in the Navy during WWII. (“In my day, we didn’t have anesthesia.”)

And don’t worry. Your palate will return to its normal position in time.

Pers, honey, they took out his tonsils, not his…oh, I think you know!

Hey Strain, I’m surprised your grandfather didn’t tell you that they had to perform their own surgeries! Both ways up hill! In winter! :stuck_out_tongue:

I didn’t know thinkmama’s name was Ellen! No wonder Eric’s such a nice guy.

Rest up and get well soon!

Actually, in taking out his adnoids, it may have some effect on his voice. Normally it causes it to go a little deeper.

What Superdude said.

That’s why my husband won’t have the surgery (and his tonsils are freakin’ HUGE). The doctors can’t promise him that his singing voice will stay the same.

Anyway, I’m sure think will have all of that figured out by OhDope. I’ve never heard him sing. I bet it’s…entertaining.

Wait a minute…Bunny, I think you just totally whooshed me.

Sigh.

It’s think’s fault. I was so concerned about him and his tonsils that I missed a perfectly good joke.

[sub]Yeah! That’s it! Blame it on the sick guy! He can’t fight back![/sub]

Dude, blankets and pillows, rest and relaxation! You’ll be living la dolce vita! Do I read correctly? Is Abby suggesting that I share my popsicles? Well, for someone I enjoy as much as you, Cherry will share her popsicles. Rest easy and know that in my mind I am fluffing your pillows, adjusting your blankets, and pouring you a cold drink.

Shoot, girl, the way your mind works, I’m surprised you hadn’t made the joke first!

:runs far and fast:

Thank you again, folks.

I’m sitting on my couch, drinking chicken broth. I’ve chewed up a few popsicles (my parents bought a box of Sunkist ones, yummy yummy.)

I’ll tell you what, except for the whole swallowing thing, I feel okay. 'Course, I haven’t tried to eat anything yet, so we’ll see how that goes tomorrow, I guess.

Everyone take care of yourselves, too, folks. I have a good <knock wood> feeling about a quick recovery so I’ll be out and about and visiting y’all before you know it.

Well, if ya get a hankering to come East, you be sure to let me know, big fella. Hope you’re all better soon!

[RN mode] Hi I’m The Mermaid and I’m going to be your nurse this evening. How are you feeling? Don’t forget to take your pain pill. We don’t give any medals for who can take the most suffering you know. Now you make sure to just keep sipping those fluids and don’t let your throat get too dried out now. I brought you some raspberry sorbet–it’s my favorite too. Now of course you realize that I’d be neglecting my professional duty if I failed to give you a thorough exam…[/RN mode]

Sending all my happy thoughts and best wishes for a speeedy recovery.

Mermaid, I’m on my third glass of broth and I’ve been sipping water every time I go to the bathroom. I’m peeing relatively clear, so I’m staying hydrated, which is good. I actually prefer the broth to the popsicles for some reason.

No pain pills for me, I’ve got Roxicet liquid pain stuff and Zithromax antibioltic drops.

If you don’t take all your pain liquid can I have what’s left?

Cranky, I might slip you some. You know, in a drink or something

No, I think I’m supposed to use it all, though that might be the antibiotic stuff?

I had mine out when I was quite young (I think they try to avoid tonsillectomies these days) and my parents successfully pitched it as an ice cream fest.

Hope your over it all soon, pal.

I would say just use all of the antibiotics for sure. The pain meds are your call.

EMT hat on/
No sharing prescription medicine! Ever!

Okay, is it any good?

Actually, yes. Both the antibiotic and the pain stuff taste fairly okay. They seem to have the desired affect, as well, so that’s good.

Heck, if this is the worst I’m going to feel, I might be back at work Monday. I suppose that’s an upside to having had all those bouts of strep, the pain in my throat is irritating but tollerable.

Maybe I get it from my father: he had a local when he had his sinus’ drilled/roto-rootered and nothing when he has dental work done including a root canal. Mind over matter, if you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.

I definitely mind when it comes to dental work.

I once let a dentist try to drill a very tiny cavity without anesthetic. After about 2 seconds I made him stop and numb it up. As much as I hate those shots(especially for the front teeth when it feels like it’s right in your nose), it’s unbearable without it.

It just may be all in my mind though cause I think I have a pretty high pain tolerance when it comes to everything else. I had my last baby–a 10 lbs,3 0z boy-- without any pain meds or anesthesia for the whole thing.

I thought of thinksnow. So much so, in fact, that I emailed him t’other day. And he hasn’t responded. Dork.
