This kind of story just compounds the lack of credibility. The book deal is the most likely explanation for this… because there is a book deal now after his name was mum for 60 years without one.
The plausibility doesn’t hinge at all on the existence of a book deal or not, does it?
A gazillion people have made bank writing peddling all sorts of wacked out theories on what happened in Dallas. Might as well cash in too, hell, he was there he’s now almost 90.
Awesome story about that hat… It was not designed to be shaped that way. The first time Jackie wore the hat, for the inauguration, it was a windy day and she had to hold it to her head to keep it from flying off. Doing so dented it and deformed it immensely. It was the warped version of the hat that made it into photos and became iconic, and from that point on when the hat was reproduced, the dent was added on purpose.
My question (if I’m following this correctly) would be if this wasn’t the bullet that came out of Connelly’s wrist, where is that bullet? It’s not like that bullet would have flown out of the limo, right?
Sure, why not? One thing that impressed me at the range was small arms fire at night, particularly tracer rounds, it quickly becomes obvious that ricochet can send a bullet in a new, practically any direction.
I have seen videos of firing into a wooden cube and the bullet makes a right turn in the wood and come out the side.
At Camp Perry shooters take turns working the pits and scoring the hits. You are behind a 7 foot tall concrete wall partially sunk below grade and mounded with dirt on the front side. The bullets rather dramatically “crack!” just over your head. The targets are held between two tall pieces of specially selected Sitka spruce, chosen for its straight grain and lack of knots.
Nevertheless, bullets hit those thin (2x4) posts and deflect downward. The building that holds the targets is yet further below grade and it is riddled with bullet holes.
You may be correct, and I don’t have the data to refute it.
But if the bullet traveled as we assumed it did, potentially through Kennedy and in, out and back into Connelly, that it seems odd to me that it wasn’t found. I would have thought that a) the bullet was out of velocity and might not have much energy to fly out of the limo, and b) thought that Connelly was fairly low in the limo and the bullet was likely to remain in the limo.
It was found. It was on Connolley’s gurney (it’s the supposed “pristine bullet” that is actually flattened). The theory is that it had worked itself out of his body when doctors were working on him.
The wikipedia article on the Kennedy assassination has two different diagrams of the positions of Kennedy and Connolly. As you say, small differences in position makes the trajectory line up.
There used to be a great photo on the internet showing the seats from a high rear view, where it was extremely clear that Kennedy was sitting significantly higher than Connoly, and Connoly’s seat is inboard of Kennedy’s to allow an aisle to get back to the back sear.
You will never see that photo in a Kennedy conspiracy book, because one look at it will instantly discredit the ‘magic bullet’ theory. I’m guessing it’s hard to find now because it wasn’t published in such books.
Futhermore, the Limo had a hydraulically actuated ‘parade seating’ option which allowed the back seat where the Kennedy’s say to be elevated for better visibility.
Here’s the best photo Imcoupd find that indicates the seating positions. In this one, the ‘jump’ seats that Connoly and his wife sat in are now folded up against the front seats, but you can pretty clearly see that they are signifanntly lower and inboard of the back seat:
