So I have a three-day weekend, like many of you I imagine, and I’m thinking of taking my motorcycle out for a 2-3 day road trip. It’s something I haven’t really done before, and I don’t have much else going on this weekend, so I come to you all for advice: where should I go?
I’ll be starting from the San Francisco area and am game to go anywhere that I can make it to within a day and a half (so it leaves me enough time to get back by Sunday night!) I’m looking for perhaps some places that’ll take me through some relaxing and/or beautiful terrain.
And if you have any ideas for lodging, feel free to throw them out there, otherwise I might just figure it out as I go!
From where you are I’d take US 50 if you haven’t. Seems like a great motorcycle route for a day out, some time playing around and a day back. That’s what I’d do if I were you. I’ve never been on 50 out west, but on the map it looks like a nice road with not much around. Google maps tells me you can make Ely in Nevada in 10 hours or so. You have the Concours right? If so that shouldn’t be a huge problem. Can’t tell you what to see, do or stay, but that’s part of the fun of taking a trip like that. I loved doing that kind of thing before I had kids.
My uncle has a country place that no one knows about. He says it used to be a farm. You could go there, but you might have to elude some security first.
How about a visit to Lassen Volcanic National Park? The campgrounds may be full, but there are other lodging choices in the vicinity. Check out Burney Falls, too!
While I came here to make this exact joke, I’m far too tired to have made it this well. Bravo, sir.
