It was only for doing resumes so I decided to do them at work so I can relax when I get home.
You might look at an MSI for your next laptop. They come free of crapware, which means most of your remaining memory is dedicated to doing what YOU want to do. I’m looking at the Apache model for my next one, as this one (HP Envy) is on shaky ground after only two years.
Check out Woot.
The deals change daily but now there are chromebooks on sale there, as well as a lot of other budget laptops and desktops.
Speaking as a recent purchaser of a Toshiba laptop, I can’t resist another opportunity to mention its crappiness and the poor quality of Toshiba customer service.
I second this recommendation. I’m presently typing on an HP laptop I got from Woot for $240. It’s reconditioned and came with Windows 10 and has a 17" screen. It could run Office but I am using LibreOffice which is very like Office but free. I like it a lot. I also bought a tablet from Woot, as well as an MP3 player, my pedometer, and other things I can no longer remember. Everything I’ve had from them has been good. You can sign up to get e-mails from Woot every day if you like. They also have some mascots that are pretty amusing if you are easily amused (I am).
Unfortunately you can’t do this if you have to work with other people’s actual Word documents all the time.
