This fucking upgrade SUCKS!

Good. Some days I just have no energy and the bill collectors are getting nasty.

Me, too. It’s been running slow on and off and I’ve gotten database error messages a few times, but it seems to be fine now, and I didn’t expect it to be 100% perfect right away. I’m happy so far.

It’s just turned off. They need to turn it on again. I run a Vbulletin board and there’s a setting for it, but when the board upgrades everything sorta goes back to default and needs to be “put on” again.

Searching has been disabled!? WTF? I paid my $14.95 (or whatever) on the exclusive pretense there would be a search function. And where’s the quick reply? Oh, and the edit function just might be useful if it lasted longer than eight seconds.

The search function is useless if the board isn’t working. It’s off temporarily while some other stuff gets worked out, as Jerry announced earlier.

Oh, ok. Thank you. In that vein I request “searching” and “quick reply” be turned on as soon as convenient and that the edit time be extended to a more reasonable five minutes.

I didn’t use quick reply, ever, so I’m not upset about that. The “create link” thingy works differently now, you highlight already typed words and then use the popup box to paste the URL in, but that’s similar to a lot of other apps so it’s no big deal. The “go to post” thingy in quoted text is awesome, especially when you want to check the whole post and it’s like fifty pages back. I dig that, big thumbs up.

Oooh, we have my favorite font available! Nice!

How come we can’t have the full range of smilies available in the new version of Vb? :frowning:

Overall, lookeeng good, mang!

The margins were the first thing I noticed–I thought that something was amiss with my browser. They could at least fill all that wasted white space with dancing hamsters or something.

Hey, does anybody know what the “visitor messaging” thing is, or how it works?

Cuz smilies suck?

Hey, I’m just trying to speculate on their mindset.

I knew there was something visually different, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.

Thank god for the clean lines and the margins. The last thing I want is dancing anything on either side.

I had ads, until I logged in and now I’m back to the little ads down below. I don’t quite get what the lil blue arrow is next to quoted user names. I clicked on one and all it did was send to that post in that same thread. That’s real nice, but I see no purpose for it. Can someone enlighten me?

Regards,

Ah, never mind.

My only problem with the “create link” thingy is that, to me at least, it’s not obvious that you now need to type the text and then highlight it before clicking on the link to get the popup box. By “other apps” I assume you’re talking about things like bold or italic; I’ve gotten so used to just typing the coding rather than stop typing to use my mouse for adding it that I don’t think of doing it for the “create link” button.

Extremely slow. Actually, horribly slow.

There’s an echo as well.

Oops! :smack: We’ll have someone look into that.

Remember that one of the things we’re getting in this upgrade is the ability to search the site through external search engines (e.g., Google). They haven’t spidered us yet, but give things a while.

Gave me the first chuckle of the updated SDMB, that did.

Otherwise, it’s slow, it’s been out for a while, but all that’s to be expected – I suspect there’s a lot of frantic work being done on the other end, and I surely don’t envy Jerry for his job right now.
