I have not formulated an opinion on the upgrade yet. It may well indeed suck, but I certainly hope not.
Well, I just now got out of stuck-on-front-page purgatory, so the jury’s still out for me, but it’s off to a bit of a rocky start. I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, however, because I never expect perfection right off the bat.

Wow, my first pit comment about an upgrade. And these ads are fucking annoying as hell. And I hate that I can’t see earlier threads. Other than that, it seems much faster.
What ads? You’re a Charter Member, you shouldn’t have any ads.
And why can’t you see earlier threads? Everything from before Amnesia Weekend looks to be available?
For some reason, I had a bunch of ads pop up in the middle of the thread when I opened it - some animated, blinking banner/slot machine-type ad. And I still can’t see everything from before amnesia weekend, but it’s really not that big an issue. Just a minor annoyance. And given my weekend, I’m not sure I want to remember anything from it anyway.

Change the display default at the bottom left of the forum page (or change the display in your user CP).
Have you logged in again? If you are relying on a cookie to automatically log you in, it won’t work because the board name has changed, temporarily at least.
Hmm, the upgrade is kinda sucking right now – the board is very very slooow. I hope this is because someone forgot to set the vBulletin “don’t suck” flag, and not a deeper problem.

There are usually growing pains during an upgrade. I will give it some time before I get too upset.

Jerry’s working on issues – he’s got some to resolve, it’s not a perfect situation – and everybody needs to be patient here.

They made the margins on the side of the page bigger, that’s my only complaint. But they let me post again for free, so that’s awesome!

I noticed all of the quotes above come with the little clicky button to apparently take you to the post–is that an automatic link, or didja all do that “by hand” in posting a response?

Automatic. It’s one of the features of the upgraded vBulletin that I really like.
I was expecting the new board to come up with all text in Cyrillic, or have funny orange spots on each and every page. It didn’t. It’s just a little crashy yet.
