Read it and see If you agree.

THis looks fake to me. I’ll bet someone $1 that it’s fake.
Anyone know how to find out if this is genuine? Some listing of DoD document numbers or something?
Even the wording of the question is inflammatory and designed to provoke, which also fits in line to it being an Urban Legend, though it reeks more of out-and-out deception (that will turn into an UL)…
Of course, truth is stranger than fiction, but I really would need to see proof it’s real to believe it.

Given that the rest of the site is for why you can evade paying your taxes legally, I doubt seriously it’s real.

They claim it’s fiction. I’m inclined to agree.

(hope that link works)
That is the article in The New American. NA is a rabid pro-right wing mag, looks like. But they have their side of the story there.
Conclusion? the Lt Col in the piece did the survey.
He pissed off some people, paticularly the New American.
His original thesis wasn’t in support of the ideas at all.
That “Amerika” website is full of crap.
Just one more thing here regarding the bogus DD form number: I imagine that the author added it to convince the marines that it was genuine, but if anyone else wonders, here is a link to all active and cancelled DD Forms, the highest of which is only 2538.

(This site may require that you browse from a .mil domain. Many DOD sites do.)
it’s scary that some folks actaully beleive this BS.
But I know you knew it was bogus, OldS, but were just riling us up.
heh

Darn it, every time I see “DD” it makes me think of a cup size.
Then I get too distracted to get any work done.
All I know is I plan on being one of those “dissidents” who refuses to turn in his guns, dagnammit!
Geez Spoofe, now I hafta put you on my dissidents list. Would you mind sending in your birth certificate, Social Security card, Blockbuster rental card, and whichever three credit cards have the highest credit line? I have to send these (well most of these) in to my UN Overlords.
Brought to you by the UN! World Domination for the Common Good.
I’m very disappointed.
I’m sure if they’d asked the Police Department if they were willing to shoot U.S. citizens, they’d have had a much more ‘positive’ response.
What depresses me to no end is the fact that there are people reading this shit who do not have the experience or critical thinking skills to question its veracity.
Sure, just send me an address where to send… hey, wait a minute! Yer trying to fool me! Well, it ain’t a-gonna work, city-boy! I’m too smart fer you. Me an’ Cletus are gonna shoot you dead!
just FYI - DD form numbers are not assigned sequentially. The numbers are indicative of the department/instruction/publication having cognizance over the particular area of interest. I’m afraid I can’t cite specifics off the top of my head, and I don’t have a pub at hand to check out the dd number cited, tho I’m willing to bet the rent it’s a crock.
I’ve been a Fed employee for over 26 years - I kinda sorta know what I’m talking about here…
I don’t know about exactly how they are assigned, but the assignations so far have only been made in the range up to 2538, and his claimed a number too high.
You can find DD Forms numbered over 10000 - it has nothing to do with how many exist or have existed - it has to to with what the form is used for - all processes and programs are categorized numerically and the publications, instructions, and forms follow that numbering convention. I checked a couple of references, and the cited number does not exist - big surprise, huh?
That just reaks of hoax.
