Has anyone else familiar with it? It goes like this, everyone sets in a circle, and recites these verses:
This is a bag A what? A bag Oh, this is a bag
The first person recites the first line, the second person the second line (and so on) until it gets back the the first line which then has to be repeated twice (by the next two players) . Once that round is completed each line is 3x and so on. The first person to flub their line has to take a shot.
It can get confusing quickly (if you are drinking). It was popular for our crowd in high school, but I’ve never talked to anyone since who has heard of it.
I do that with our team members at work - the repeated phrase part, not the drinking part! It helps with their concentration while dealing with some disabilities; my manager plays it with them too.
I remember something similar but as a kid, so no drinking involved. You’d have a few small items like a coin, book, Coke can, etc. One person would pass an item to the next person in the cicle.
Person 1: “This is a coin”
Person 2: “A what?”
1: “A coin”
2: “A what?”
1: “A coin”
2: “Oh, a coin.”
Then person 2 turns to person 3 and repeats the same bit. Once you have that down, you can add another item going around the circle, so sometimes one person is both giving an item and receiving an item. Sounds simple, but it gets confusing.
I know a similar game, called (IIRC) “Buzz”. You go around the circle just reciting the numbers consecutively starting with “One”, next guy says “two”…etc. Except that when you get to a number that either contains a “7” or a multiple of 7 you say “buzz” instead. If you screw up, you take a drink.
so the players are saying “1 2 3 4 5 6 buzz 8 9 10 11 12 13 buzz 15 16 buzz 18…” etc.
I played several drinking games similar to that. None involved that kind of repetition that I remember. Drunk Buzz was a fun one. I don’t remember much about one game except a bunch of weird rules like you could only point at someone with your elbow.
