This is probably the coolest Treehouse I have ever seen...

In another totally unrelated thread I was looking on the web for good pics of treehouses and I stumbled on this link. See here. These are probably the coolest tree houses or should I say tree-spheres I’ve seen. They are certainly pricey but holy cow could we have some fun in this! Aren’t these cool!?

What would you do with one of these dropped on your front lawn totally furnished and everything?

Didn’t I see one of these in that movie Without a Paddle or something? But yeah, dat’s cool. I see a microwave. Were did they get the power?

That is…art.

The Perfect Treehouse.

This is one of those “why I signed up” moments.

It reminds me of nothing so much as an enormous jaundiced eyeball.

Seriously, I have seen much cooler treehouses (not in person). There was a profile of one in, I think, the Boston Globe within the past year that was much nicer.

No. Actually, I think it’s a hideous blight on the beautiful forest.

Call the city and have them come and remove it as oversized trash immediately.

It looks like a cross between a Hobbit hole and an Ewok hut. I love it!

OK. The Globe article is subscription only but here are a couple of pictures and a short writeup. Peter Lewis’ treehouse in Bridgton, Maine.

Phlsophr, you fantasizing about a tree house again, now that you find yourself without one?

Inside-beautiful
Outside-like alien lifeboat.

What, no porch? Screw it.

Now this is a treehouse.

I also see it as a giant eyeball. Not my cup of tea.

It looks fairly interesting. I love treehouses- when I was a kid, my fellow savages and I built a six-story treehouse in my back yard. Granted, you had to crawl through most of the levels, but it had six of 'em, dammit.

I’m bothered by the lack of windows, however. Sure, it’s got a few portholes… but if I’m going to sleep suspended fifty feet above the forest floor, I want a panoramic view.

Yep - I actually went to visit the people who bought our old home [they are only 10 miles away] and they are enjoying the first treehouse I built. Their children use it primarily but I take it that it is the talk of the 3rd grade where they go to school. But yes I am ready to build again… We’ll see what happens gotta talk to the boss first

Do you have pictures of your old treehouse?

Kalhoun - this is the closest pic to what I built…

Cool. We’ve considered building a treehouse out from our deck and over the creek area that is a good 20 ft. drop. We never will, but it’s fun to imagine it!

Imagining it is only half the battle. Where do you think my wife and I started…

With a wacky idea…

If you can’t or don’t want to build one yourself, there’s always the Cedar Creek Treehouse at Mt. Rainier in Washington state. It’s a $250/night hotel.

Moved from IMHO to MPSIMS.

This is my idea of a treehouse:

I like Kelly’s treehouse too, the one shaped like an eyeball just freaks me out.
