Melin told a mod what she was doing, and the mod said under the circumstances, it was fine. A subsequent chat with Ed - you know, the guy in charge here? - told her it was understandable under the circumstances.
If the mods had a problem with any of the couple of posts all dealing with her lost friend, they had two occassions to tell her, and like as in everything else shows, she would not have posted. And if she misunderstood their permission, they would have told her and/or deleted those posts. Neither thing happened.
So don’t appologize like you said you would, Sax. I don’t care one way or another, really. Just don’t claim that you will if you obviously have no intention of doing so. It’s more than a tad disingenuous.

I didn’t get the impression from Melin’s IM that Ed gave her permission to post (see my summary of my impression one SaxFace thread up).
If a mod comes into this thread and says, “Melin had permission to post” I will apologize and admit I’m an idiot for jumping to conclusions. Clear?
Seriously, I don’t care enough about this subject one way or the other - I’m just sick of the moderators being dumped on with complaints, trolls and idiots. And at this point I agree with what Sqrl wrote.
Incidentally, Sax, you’re perfectly welcome to come down and post from here after they ban you.
Thank you SaxFace. I knew that I would get flamed for saying that. I know some people like Melin. Personally, banned to me means banned for good. Satan said it himself with his own IM that she got permission and then felt it was ok to post “one or two more times in the Wally thread.”
I agree with her posting in the Wally thread and even with Ayesha. I think it would have been more appropriate for her to send a private email to Ayesha for various reasons (more personal and wouldn’t have put the mods in a possibly weaker position) but it was still a nice gesture for her. The main point was that she was posting here and was originally forbidden. If she is allowed to come back then why is she still banned? Is her exile sentance now over?
To everyone who decided to stand up for Melin, good for you. I am happy that you view her as a friend even though I don’t. I am happy that you are able to stick up for her even though I don’t. I am also happy that she has some type of happiness through friendship with dopers and it appears that I don’t now. Sigh. It hurt me Drain, when you said you wouldn’t be my fag hag anymore. It also hurt me when I heard that I disappointed you, Kelli.
Coldfire, Drain backed up my claim. She didn’t post here a lot under her husbands name, just enough for me to notice. I couldn’t remember where all I saw her post but I remembered one was Wally and that there was at least one other in the past. Drain already posted the links. I thought I saw her in Chief Scott’s thread but that was actually Highlander.

I will go into the writing style in a bit. I will also put examples of her and him in the next paragraph. Using Highlander’s previous posts as a guide would suggest that almost all of the more recent ones were written by Melin but I can’t back up that claim because I don’t have the complete expert base to follow the stylistic analysis. In the past, prior to her banning, he was terse and really didn’t write as prolifically or as coherent as Melin. “In answer to your last two questions: yes… and yes.” and "But if you find a good one… like mine

Most of his other posts prior to Melin’s dismissal were similar. He says what happened in as few words as possible. There aren’t many emotions there to mangle the possible meanings. Well, I knew I would get flamed more than anything talking about Melin. I will miss being able to call you my faghag Drain Bead. At least I stand behind what I believe. Kelli knew my feelings before and should not be surprised. Hopefully she will be able to talk to me outside of the pit. The op wasn’t about trolls, it was about fighting words and such.

MajorMD is NOT a lookalike troll. Her name is Sue, and she’s a military doctor. She and Melin are friends. If I’m not mistaken, she posted here for a long time until Melin’s banning(?).
Kyla is right, if the post says HIGHLANDER, its highlander. Melin has enough integrity to put her name on that which is hers.

In your first post here, the part after the part where you agreeed with me and which resulted in the hijack WAS rather small and bitchy and I’m not the slightest bit surprised you got fried for it. Then you fought back when your position was indefensable. And kept fighting. Your last posting was paranoid and obsessive in a way that makes ME bow in respect.

Your writing style analysis does NOT constitute proof in my book. I can only conclude that Melin posted to threads about Wally, Ayesha’s cousin and Tatertot (albeit slightly in the latter case).

Post #1 was #406 (page 9) on the thread about Wally. I meant for it to be post #1 of 1, but your hurtful comments about Melin really upset me, leading to post #2 here. Since everybody including the OP seems sick of this thread, I’m going to close it. For the record, Melin did not ask permission to post under her husband’s username. We were aware that she had done so but in the circumstances didn’t care to make an issue of it. Had she continued I would have said something to her, but she didn’t. It’s my judgment that this was an extremely unusual circumstance and won’t arise again.
