I loved future Tess too. There was one instance where they cut from current Tess to Foster Lady, and I was struck by how much they looked alike. Then we find Foster Lady is Future Tess. I am always so amazed that the various actors for each character look alike. They did a good job casting Future Tess.
I don’t remember whether I saw it on P.tv, or somewhere else, but somebody made the remark that whomever the casting director is for this show, they deserve a raise.
It looked to me like at least part of it was Pats vs. Jags, probably the AFC championship game? At any rate, the opposing uniforms looked like Jags teal to me, instead of Eagles green.
Still, even that is some pretty fast turnaround.
Something that’s bugged me for a few weeks now… When did Kate become Kevin’s mother figure? I guess she’s always done it but she really took on the role after Jack died.
Sure, they are close and but she is overfunctioning:
37 year old Kate: “I let Kevin get sent to rehab”. " I dropped the ball" and 17 year old Kate decided she had to be the one who found and told Kevin. She basically has the same reaction to Kevin’s addiction issues as Rebecca had to Kate’s obesity after going to the bariatric surgeon consult.
Yes, from the beginning, present day Kate has always dropped everything for Kevin. (until Toby has started to advocate for Kate to put herself and/or “Ka-toby”*, first occasionally) But these wonder twins cannot remain conjoined.
And the writers already have planted the seed for that. Madison will take on a friend-type role so she can actually have friends who are women.
She needs some girl time.
How do Kate and Beth get along anyway? We don’t really see that. Kate has not really had on-screen female relationships except her mother since Sophie de-camped for the Princess Bride party.
*I hate name mash-ups, but I adore how crazy happy “Ka-toby” makes Toby. I adore crazy happy Toby. Actually, I adore Toby in all his moods.

I’m thinking they hinted at that during the rehab episode where Becca had a meltdown, saying Kevin and Kate left her and Randall was the only one who stayed behind after Jack’s death. So Kate and Kevin developed their own bond of coping after Jack died and Bec had to lean on Randall.
Jack died in 1998. I’m trying to think what treatments or medicine would have been available to help someone with smoke inhalation. At the least shouldn’t he have been hooked up to oxygen?
Did anyone else feel like last night they watched an hour long Jeep commercial?
Did it bother anyone else during the phone chat between Kevin and Rebecca – which occurs while she is eating lasagna and watching the super bowl – that it was light outside? On the east coast, it’s dark during the super bowl.
Bothered me too- I thought I had missed something somewhere and they were on the west coast somehow
Season 2 finale was last night. No real cliffhangers as such, but they sure did set up the storylines for next season.
Nice bit of misdirection there (something this show does so well) leading us to think Kevin is going to hook up with Madison.
Nice bit of stunt casting with Toby’s parents being 2 of the major characters from “Just Shoot Me”.
I loved when Randall said “She’s crazy” and Kevin answered “Yeah. Don’t let me sleep with her”
Actually, Toby’s dad was the dad from “The Wonder Years”. And it seems like I recently saw Wendie Malick pop up as someone else’s mom somewhere, but danged if I can remember what show.

This show. The opening scene of the 40 year anniversary renewal of the vows ripped my heart out.
I love how they set up future story lines, so you’re guessing “how do we get there?” Looks like Kevin is going to Vietnam with Beth’s sister to find out what happened to his uncle. I wonder if he won an Oscar? Toby falls into depression, and SOMETHING happens with Randall’s household. Did he and future Tess specifically mention going to see Deja? It could be they were talking about Annie, Becca, or even Beth. And really, if Toby’s parents had concerns about Kate, couldn’t they have brought them up sooner than an hour before the wedding?
The worst case scenarios were quite funny, and the interaction between Miguel and Becca when she was choosing her dress was nice. They have a good relationship and as she told Kevin, it’s “quieter” and she’s happy.
