This just in: Hunter S Thompson's Curse of Lono is back in print!

No more spending $80 on Ebay; the fully colored illustraded, hardcover, and quite large newer edition runs for $50 in my Barnes and Noble and probably most others. Expensive? Perhaps; but damn it’s a nice looking book. And from the few pages I read it looks like a very nice follow up of sorts to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Based on what I read about it in HST’s Songs of the Doomed it’s about the Good Doctor of Journalisim’s mission to cover a marathon on a Hawaain Island. Throw in drugs, destroyed property, Natives being pissed off because some drug fiend is claiming to be a god from their religion akin to Loki, a dead tourist, and you have the essentials of what it seems to be about.

Anyways, just giving the heads up for those interested ;).

If anyone here has read it, feel free to deposit all conversation and opinions regarding the book right below this post

It was fetching $80 on eBay?

Crap. It’s sitting on my shelf and I’m not going to read it again. Why do I learn this when it’s no longer useful?

I think it was *40…if not that much than at least the price it’s going for now. If you’re really not going to read it look up it’s going prices. You could probably still get around $40 for it…or even more. My new copy says that the older copy was larger, so that’s a perk right there

Make that, “I think it was going for $80.”

Sweet. I know what I’m asking for for Christmas.

I couldn’t find my copy of it when he passed away. I love The Curse of Lono. His writing is great Steadman’s illustrations are perfect.

It’s a great book to bring and read on the plane if you’re flying to Hawaii. I love Steadman’s painting of the manic surfer inside the curl of a wave!
