I wasn’t loving the layout, then I logged in and saw a new layout, with categories & descriptions in their own rectangular box, all running down the left side.
And the name of that layout is…?
It changed on all of them, so far as I can tell. I’ve been on both “Light” (default, I think) and “Graceful” and the layoud changed a couple hours ago to something easier to navigate and read.
The more I play with it the less I hate it. Imagine that!
I know the feeling. 
I’m hoping @BigT is working round the clock to improve our experience. 
The name of the layout is Vincent.
Some things I’ve discovered help/hurt:

Set your font size to large. This takes care of a lot of the wasted white space.

The new default for a link swaps the Dope page for the link page, rather than opening a new window. Do I fix this in prefs or do TPTB have to make that tweak?

yep, there have been substantial changes throughout the day, and I think they just keep making things better.
