Oh Merry … I add warm thoughts with the rest of us. I was so hoping it would be something simple.
Watch for Puff. She’ll be trying to show you she thinks of you and is happy where she is. All who have lost beloved pets know this is true.

She did have a urinary/bladder infection; her UA showed blood, white cells and bacteria. She also had a high BUN and creatinine and a low specific gravity, indicating kidneys that were no longer functioning well.
You can never know how much “good time” a pet has left, but the doctor was pretty clear that anything we did was just a Band-Aid. And when I found out she was sick a few months ago I told myself I would not let her suffer. I hate to think what would have happened if things had gone downhill on one of the days I’m gone for 14 hours, or if I was out of town. This way she got to go to sleep, snuzzled up in Mom’s arms, while she was still pretty much herself. She even purred at me a little.
This was the best way, but it’s still very very hard.
