This may change the way you look at The Matrix..

I was watching The Matrix, just to make myself sure it was a good movie, after the horrible Revolutions, which was about as satisfying as being beaten by a comically gigantic pair of diseased genitals.

So, someone mentioned Sentinels being built exclusively for search and destroy.

But how do the humans know?

It isn’t as if the only thing that soldiers do is kill things and do things generally militarish. Soldiers can be great musicians, cooks, and artists, while not in the field. Why not sentinels?

Why, sentinels could write soap operas. The Good, The Bad, and The Squid-Like, anyone? Surely, some Sentinels sit at home, bored, arranging matches or building card houses.

Sentinel Box Socials, Sentinel Art Galleries, Sentinel Olympics…

So, next time you watch a Matrix movie, read press on The Matrix, or read any of the spin-off comics, remember that behind the lethal claws, laser cutters, and many squinting, robotic eyes of sentinels, there’s probably a deep culture, and an entire race of machines who just want some love and acceptance.

Thank you.

There has got to be a better word for wierd

Naw I am just kidding, but to answer your question. I think that maybe because despite thier AI, the machines are generally programed to do one thing and one thing well. I also think that the machines in charge might have created other machines such as sentinels for the express purpose of “seek and destroy” and done so with out giving them much ai. What would happen if a sentinel became a conciencious(SP?) objector? If one did then it could persuade other sentinels that killing humans was wrong and then a pro human uprising? I am sure that the machines would have studied human history and learned how such thoughts could weaken the War Machine and taken such precautions.

Mmmmmm…nope. I still think it sucks.

in the animatrix there was humans locking the AI in their own matrix and convincing them to come over to the human side. Seemed like alot of hard dangerous work for little payoff. Maybe some of those convered AI were being sent back to spread desent among the ranks.

converted AI even.

ps, I haven’t seen the two sequels to the matrix and I fast forwarded through most of the Animatrix I only watched it b/c I like anime movies. So I probably missed a heck of alot of how fully formed the average AI is.

Nah, The Matrix is just the sequel to the MMORPG based on it that’s coming out next year, released in 2006. You play the role of a twinked out badass in a ludicrous science fiction action game. The part about waking up into it is part of the transition effect to help you better forget that it’s just a game, to increase immersiveness.

There is: weird.
