I see a certain amount of “Likes” but I don’t know where to “Like” a post.
This is confusing… My subscription link… I’m seeing double to my right. I don’t like to complain, but this is a dope.
Likes got turned off during or just after the first night. There’s no longer a way to like a post.

I would like, for once, that a change make something better. Or at least, not to fuck me up.
It’s ugly. Very busy are more difficult to read. Lot’s of bells and whistles that I don’t care about. Who’s idea was it to have a slide bar on the right hands side taking up a quarter of the screen?
When a bubble appears over your avatar, it means you have notifications. Somebody’s replied to you or there’s a new reply in a thread you’re following, stuff like that. Toward the bottom of the list is a Dismiss button. It’s like Mark All As Read for notifications.
I don’t know of any way to disable notifications.
There’s also a Dismiss button in New and in Unread.
Actually, pretty sure the old vB board was falling over. So this was change for problem solving’s sake.
There is a Dismiss button but it is greyed out and does not work. Maybe I have a setting that’s making that happen but I don’t know what it would be.
Guess I can understand how you must feel, what with you not having lots of badges like I do.
For the most part, I think it is an improvement. I find the Discourse-Classic theme the most tolerable, though still a tad light (slightly darker underlay and off-white post bg would be more comfortable).
The scrollbar thingy is, yes, a bit large. However, IMHO, having the posts a little less wide is not a huge problem: it is easier to read narrower columns than wider ones.
Not perfect, but overall, after learning the UI, it seem like a net usability gain.
The positive thing about the scroll bar on the right is that if I want to see replies on a particular date it will show me as I scroll and before it loads the page. In the old world you would have to guess a page number and then use trail and error to get to the date you want.

Why am I suddenly getting emails on this? I put the email address in just for when I need a password reset. Reading posts is what I visit the site for.

Go to Preferences >> Emails and set what you do and do not want to get.

I agree, although I prefer Vincent’s theme, thanks Vincent. Not a bright white background. But I really agree about the width of the posts, more like a book than the old forum. And I love that when you go to a topic, you see right away if there have been any new posts since you were last there, and clicking on it takes you right to the last post. I never set up notifications on the old board, maybe you could do something similar.
But TypoNegative, I am getting old too and I hate change. When I came here for the first time I really didn’t like it. Now I love it.
Nope. In preferences>email…all I get is an option to change the email address.
Preferences on the top bar, Emails on the side bar.
