I think part of the penalty should be that the person has to go on a “The Rules Apply To All Of Us” tour and explain to others the consequences of ignoring signs that they didn’t feel were pertinant to them. “But we’re camping- we’ll be careful. You have to have a campfire!”
I’d like to see them have to explain their idiocy to all of the firefighters that are risking their lives, all of the people that are evacuating, and all of the trees that are burning to the ground. I guess they would say “I saw the sign, but I didn’t think it meant ME”
And I agree- $1,000 fine? Holy hell, the state is burning out of control because of these asswipes. I could never live with myself if I caused that kind of damage.
Just a question:-How are you getting screwed if it’s merchandise you sell? Just put it back on the shelf. If it’s ruined, don’t accept it or send it back to the manufacturer for credit. I do notice that Wal-Mart has a very liberal return policy, and they are growing so fast that they’re putting new stores inside existing Wal-Marts. K-Marts are closing faster than a 16 year old boy’s climax the first time he gets laid. Hmmmmmm…
the Army is not exempt from people not reading/following signs. Every wednessday my office is closed for training, as is the rest of post. Signs are posted, notices in the paper, doors locked, etc. And we still have people comming to the office and are suprised that we are in training. I have asked several people (officers and Enlisted) how their reading comprehension skills are, because they walked by 3 signs stating that we are closed. But they are special, they need an LES (monthy pay report for the soldier) to buy a car and they need it right now.
We also have the same problem in the barracks, due to current events the emergancy exits are for emergancy use only, not for normal use. This is so that the duty personnel can make sure no bad people are entering the building from the back doors. All of the doors have signs in big red letters that state unless the building is on fire, don’t go our this door. If you are cought, expect to be a door guard to stop others from going out this door. But we still find evidence of people going out the doors.
Not going to start about the noise ordenance here, no loud music that can be heard beyond 30 foot. Some of them can be heard up to 1/2 mile away (womp womp).
Of course, when it’s clearly indicated, there’s usually no point in getting in the wrong line, but…

And just what does BUS STOP NO PARKING mean? It means “It’s perfectly okay to park here if there’s no other space.” I was standing in that space in the street waiting on the bus and someone PULLED INTO IT! I told him “This is not a parking spot,” and he said “You’re going to get yourself killed.”
I hate people who in parking lots drive against the arrows. Ya know how all of the spaces face one direction so the lane is one way. But some asshole has to drive down it going the wrong way.
Thank god my car is cheap, I just turn sideways blocking the lane and wave at them.
And yeah, I block people in handicaped spaces if they don’t have stickers, a plate and are obviously fully able to jump out of their car and sprint to the atm machine. But I only block them in if a cop is near by.
I seem to remember last time I said this everyone jumped all over my ass.
Screw you guys. They broke the law, I’m just going to make sure the evidence is still in place when the cop drives over here.
