You’re right, Arnold… I could find a new job relatively quickly I’m sure. I just don’t want to. As far as having a nice vacation, well… I had a nice long one from around Christmas till the first week of February. So I kind of need a job cuz I burned thru all my savings getting from Rhode Island to California and all that.
But yeah, I’m young, I’m bright, and another plus, I’m female. In lots of small, mostly male companies, that’s a plus. (No, not for THOSE reasons! Because they want to be more inclusive, you pervs.)
And, if this new deal works out, we get to stay us. We won’t have to work for the parent company, we’ll stay where we are, our happy little family of geeks. And, we get to keep the majority of our customers. Cool! Yeah, we’re very Mac-centric. Most of our customers are Mac users, to the point where we don’t have a machine in the office that runs Win95/98, just one NT box, a Win2k box, and a few Linux boxes.
Nocturne, thanks and keep the vibes coming… I’m hoping as hard as I can here, and can use all the help I can get!
I hope things work out for you Rasa. You’ve got a job that you’re happy with and enjoy - most folks never find that. Although, just incase things don’t work out, it might be wise to brush up your résumé and in the meantime and do a little bit of browsing in the job market. Best luck.
Keep your chin up, like Arnie said you got alot going for you.
Just a little observation I’ve made, from one recently transplanted East Coaster to another:
The companies in this area are much more laid back than most I’ve seen on the East. Not too many suit & tie places, the atmosphere is just generally less conservative, maybe that’s just California. All this sunshine just loosens people up.
I’m not saying you will replace the job you currently treasure as far as sentimental value or whatever, but you will find another you will like. It’s a pretty hot market.
If you give me a few job titles or positions, I can check out some bay area job banks every now and again, (I got to know them all quite well, from my searches when I came out). Two sets of eyes couldn’t hurt.
