I work on behalf of a major computer manufacturer as a corporate trainer. The company does quite a bit of their sales through resellers, and that’s my company. All through this tumultuous time in the computer industry, I was told, Don’t worry. You’ll be fine. Your position isn’t going anywhere.
I found out last Friday that my position was eliminated. One of the first to go, actually.
Fuckers.
My direct boss, who is actually a saint in disguise, took it upon herself to put everything on the line to have another requisition created, this time with another major computer manufacturer in house that’s doing much better. So my job is safe, although I have to learn a whole new set of business rules, and I’ll be working with a completely new audience.
So to the first company, the one that lied through their teeth to me…
Fuck you. Fuck you and your bullshit company, and I hope the distinguished competition wipes the fucking floor with you and your bullshit policies. You think for a second that acquiring other companies makes you stronger? Bullshit. Instead, you’ve allowed yourself to become a slave to them and their policies and solutions. I’m actually looking forward to using my powers to help make the sales reps with my new company uber-salesmen. And I hope they kick your ass on every product line in every territory in the nation.
I want my old company to suffer, and suffer hard. To taste the hard dick of defeat, baby, and swallow the choad of disaster. Fuck your shitty-ass computers, printers and PDAs. Fuck them up their stupid asses. You evil, lying, no-good sonsabitches in charge deserve nothing less than the anal bleeding brought on by repeated butt-rapings in prison.
You’ve done it now.
And I’ll laugh my ass off when you and your acquired little shitpile company file Chapter 11.
The last job I had as a Systems Admin, I was told repeatedly that despite the fact they they were laying off, MY job was not in danger and that my name had never, ever come up in discussions regarding layoffs.
I later found a file on the server that was created the week before I gave notice (I didn’t belive them). It was called (I shit you not) “Layoff List”. Layoff List?? WTF? Since I’d already given notice, I read it. My name was on there along with the annual company savings after they eliminated my job.
Lying motherfuckers.
Great rant, my friend. It really is a dog eat dog world out there. NEVER, ever believe that it’s not. The person who swore to me that my job was safe was a personal friend, to boot. He knew that I was in a tough financial situation and being jobless even a week or two at that point would have been a real crisis. Still he lied.
[slight hijack] zette, it sounds like you wouldn’t have read the file if you hadn’t already given notice. Interesting. I make it my business to read anything I can lay my peepers on in the name of protecting my own ass at work. With everything weighted in the company’s favour everywhere, I think employees should help themselves to all the information they can get.[/slight hijack]
Glad to hear it worked out for you, Chastain86. Good attitude, too - no pissing and moaning, just cold, hard revenge. Good for you.
If this company is the company I’m thinking of (the one with a president whose name rhymes with barley) I’ll be gladly never buying another one of their POS computer offerings again, and when I walk right by, I’ll be thinking of your fine rant, chastain, and giggling inside. Choad of disaster, indeed.

That is absolutely correct: I would not have read it. I saw the file name while doing a backup of the contoller’s folder on the server and it bugged me for a few days, but I was already in the process of getting another job, since I had the feeling they were lying anyway. I actually had his folder password protected against ME at the time and had to do some fancy footwork to obtain it, but my curiousity was absolutely killing me and I had to know if this guy actually lied right to my face. I felt terribly guilty after I read it and still think I did the wrong thing, even though the point was really moot- I was leaving anyway.
The reason I had all that info so tightly protected was that the company was in legal trouble and the controller was constantly in court- I didn’t want to have read/write/delete access to any of his stuff. So I made it so that his folder was password protected by him and only he could access it- not even the admin password was good enough to get to it. I didn’t want anyone to be able to say “Well, he could have deleted evidence- he and the Sys. Admin”, see what I mean?
When I accessed the data, I did a CD ROM backup of his folder from his logged on machine (which he wanted) and I snuck a copy of that file onto my laptop and examined it later. I felt like a real lying cheat and would never do it again, though. The file contained a lot of info that was none of my business and I was sorry I read it.
Okay, fair enough. I probably would have done the same thing in that situation - I want to know what higher-ups aren’t telling me, but I don’t want to get entangled in any legal proceedings.
