If you recall, towards the end of this Superbowl, on the many attempts by the Rams to get that last TD, there were two opposing penalties that negated each other. No TD was scored, and it was on 4th down, BUT! The refs gave the Rams another 1st down instead of the Rams having to kick off to the Bengals. What gives?
Was this decided by the refs’ discretion or does the rule book actually allow this bias built into the play? In my opinion, the Rams did not win that game fairly.
There was no 4th down, no need to kick off, and, watching the game, no “built in bias”. I dont know what you’re trying to show, nor why it took you a month to do so.
And yes, even if the facts presented in the OP were correct, offsetting penalties is always a do-over. It’s like the down didn’t happen. Otherwise it would be a huge advantage for the defense if the offense lost a down.
