This totally -creeps- me out!

One more thread on the weirdness, the absolute creepiness of some of the things on ebay.

Look at these lifemask things. Ew. They look so dead. So ICK. Who would want these? It scares me. What scares me more is, why? And how would the person selling them get them in the first place?

Yeeeech.

Looks like shopping at corpses-R-us.

I think those are kinda cool… I’d have John Goodman or Han Solo hanging on my wall any day. At least the Han Solo one makes sense, since it portrays a “lifemask” of sorts itself. (Han in carbonite)

No. Those don’t freak me out. These do.

I was in a sculpture class where we did masks of our face in “ParisCraft” which is the stuff they make casts out of. It was very cool. Unfortunately, I can’t open the first link to see if that is what it is. Anyhoo, if that’s what they are, I like 'em.

Yikes! My grandparents were both artists, and in the upstairs hallway of their home they had a lifemask of my grandmother on the wall (she died when I was three). That thing creeped me out no end–have no idea where it went once the household goods were divvied up, but I know I’ll leap out of my skin if I find it in a box somewhere. shudder

Those are freaky as hell! I wants 'em! My living room is done up in movie memorabilia. Those faces pressing through my matching colored wall would RULE! (and scare the crap out of me late at night, but that’s the price you pay)

I’m not exactly sure why these are creepy. They’re just plaster casts of someone’s face. My mom has my plaster-casted handprints from when I was a baby. I don’t consider that creepy. I see the items in the link as statues or busts. I have a bust of Napoleon I bought at a yard sale- he’s not creepy. He makes a good hat rack.

Now, Living Dead Dolls, they’re sorta creepy. Not so much in themselves- they’re just plastic dolls. But the concept behind them is kinda wierd, when you think about it. Playthings modeled after horror-movie style dead people? Odd. But maybe if you’re a big horror movie fan, they’d be fun to collect. Dunno. I see that those Todd McFarlane ‘Movie Maniacs’ figures are selling well at my local comic book store, so who knows? People collect some weird stuff, no doubt, as any Ebay frequenter can tell you.

Look at the latest issue of National Geographic…on the cover there is a life mask made of synthetic material so real, it looks like it was scraped off some chick’s skull!
