This war hullaballoo: Who the heck's with us?

Is there anything on the Web that lists the stance various nations are taking in regard to this standoff with Iraq?

Maybe a nice color-coded map (i.e. red=against the U.S.'s position, white=neutral, blue=offering military support, green=offering political support but no military, etc).

Or even just a simple list briefly describing where different countries stand.

I’m looking for something as simple as possible-- maybe a sidebar to an article. I’ve done some Google searches, but I’m having a hard time finding anything.
If there’s nothing out there, maybe we resourceful Dopers could sort through this ourselves.

I’ll start:

UK=blue
France=red
Russia=red
Germany=red
China=red

The Grand Alliance of the Willing:

Correction:

France, Russia, Germany, China = yellow

[Grinny here.]

Today’s Washington Times reports that three nations other than the United States are committing troops. The nations and figures, as best I can tell, are:

UK: 18,000 troops
Australia: 2000 troops
Poland: 200 troops

This article claims that 130 specialist anti-NBC troops from the Czech Republic are stationed in Kuwait.

Critically absent are Germany’s Fernspah and KSK troops, which are renowned for their strategic reconaissance abilitites. Germany also has an elite antichemical team and makes a special armored personnel carrier which is designed specifically for chemical detection. I think various U.S. Marine and armored units have examples of these vehicles, but it would be nice to have the Germans along as they are considered by many to be the anti-NBC experts.

I myself prefer Dan Rather’s steely confidence, battle-field experience, and occasional REM-lyric-inspiring antics, but anti-NBC troops? That’s a bit extreme. Those “journalists” aren’t even armed.

Oh, wait. You mean, nuclear, biological, and chemical. Never mind.

Haha! 'cause everyone who disagrees with the US is wrong, and they outta agree 'cause we’s always right and they’re just scared! Tee hee jerk

Canada has some troops on an exchange program with the US who (last I heard), won’t be recalled, even if their units are called to battle.

This is in spite of the fact Canada remains opposed to military action at this point in time.

So, colour Canada mostly red, perhaps some blue. Kinda purple I suppose.

I was bored so I spent 10 minutes whipping this up:

Blue on that map represents members of the coalition. I probably screwed up some of the geography, but it’s close. I stuck to Europe since the countries were too small on the world map. :slight_smile:

I could add the red countries if someone has a complete list.

BTW, what happened to Portugual? Wasn’t their PM standing up with Bush on Sunday? Yet now they aren’t in the list.

Well, maybe there should be another category in there (although not yellow). I mean, France is against the U.S.'s position, but then what color can you make Iraq? :wink:
