This website confuses me

No, not timecube, but www.dating-ru.com

The first time I saw it, I saw it as a dating service that advertised Russian women.

Upon looking further (into site layout, organization, details of the girls), it seems more like a marriage market. The customer is supposed to pay to send a girl a letter (most live in Russia, Latvia, or the Ukraine), and she will write back. All relationships are geared towards marriage. You may also have the service mail flowers to her address.

If you really like your girl, you can go on a “Love Tour”, primarily to Russia, the Middle East, or a tropical island.

Okay, so is it just me, or is there something more sinister behind this facade? Is this an escort service, and I just haven’t picked up the clues? Is organized crime behind this? Is the veiled purpose of the “Love Tours” actually like a sex tour?

…Or is it really just as innocent as it looks?

I believe it’s mail-order brides, except with Russin women instead of the more traditional Asian women.

I always thought “mail-order brides” were just inflatable dolls…learn something new everyday, I guess.

What’s their reasoning? Escape poverty or something?

I suppose they do want to escape poverty and live the high life (relatively) in the US. Getting citizenship is easy if you are married to a citizen.

By the way, if you do go on a love tour, I think you would do well to opt for the “tropical island”, rather than Russia or the Middle East

I teach English as a second language to adults at a community college.

I have taught several Russian women, really gorgeous women, who could speak almost no English and whose fiances speak absolutely no Russian. I have also taught Thai women in the same situation, but they usually speak some English.

I cant say I approve, but its not my position to judge.
