Is it my imagination, or are they a wholesale ripoff of Apple’s iTunes ads?
Can they do that?
Well, if Buy.Com (the parent company) ever gets taken to court by Apple, they can say there’s a difference:
The Apple iTunes ads feature a single person singing a single song.
The BuyMusic.com ads feature more than one person singing a single song.
It is such a horrible ripoff of Apple…
but then again… Microsoft has been doing that since 95… so I don’t think anything will come of it…

Where he smashes the guitar… like it was supposed to be from the apple ads… in a “damn the man” sort of manner…
I just find that amusing…
yeah… buymusic.com are such rebels… you can download those songs and you can put most of them on a whopping 3 different CD’s!!! and no other computers…
Well, that’s hardly a surprise, since BuyMusic.com is not a paradon of originality, either. 
I think they’re safe if the ads haven’t actually been broadcast.
At least, I haven’t heard of BuyMusic putting their ads over the public airwaves yet. If they have, I expect to see the deployment of Apple Legal AAMs (Anti-Advertising Missiles) any minute now…
They have been broadcast and they are pushing their luck, to say the least. There’s a deliberate attempt to cause confusion between thte two ads. That may not be kosher, but IANAL.

I think those ads are annoying as hell. What idiot saw the iTunes bits and said, “That’s genius! Let’s copy them?” Ugh. Makes me not want to try their product.
Its just annoying that given about a jillion ways they could have made an ad to advertise their product they decided to imitate apple. When I first heard about the ads and the complaints I thought “Oh,. its just apple fans being grumbly about some similarity”. When I actually saw them I realised their complaints were understated! Buymusic(dot)com are a bunch of theives!
