I keep thinking it’s a real game and I am momentarily confused. Especially when one of the teams playing in the commercial is one of the teams that I’m actually watching.
Christian Laettner? WTF. . . oh, I see the word FUEL now. What in the hell does that have to do with cars anyway?
C’mon, they’re exciting!!! I never get tired of Tyus Edney driving the length of the court, and Laettner’s shot still gives me chills.
It has nothing to do with cars. (How many car commercials actually do?) It has to do with the desire for respect by association. But it’s not all bad. Having previously not given out any attention to March Madness, (I was busy trying to make it as an albino cross-dressing Irish folk dancer), it’s pretty cool to see these incredible shots.
As a palliative, I promise to blame these commercials for my refusal to buy an american car from this point forward.
It is a highlight show sponsored by Pontiac. It is done all the time.
Man, my state of mind these days. How much of a stretch did it take for me to misread the title of this this thread as “Those damned Patriotic commercials…”?
I had to read the OP twice and then look back at the title before I figured it out.
Anyway. I like 'em. They don’t look like real games to me because of the goofy unis and the grainy images, and I always like a reference to past glories in my televised sporting events.
