Has anyone seen that MTV show about the band called (I think) 2Gether? It’s sort of a boy band spoof, there’s the “big brother” type member, who is like 40, and the “shy” type member, who’s nearly agoriphobic, and the “troubled” type member, who’s nearly psycopathic. Not terribly clever but good for a few chuckles. Sort of a Boy Band Spinal Tap. I couldn’t tell you when it’s on, as I’ve only caught it a couple times.
Actually, no, I haven’t heard any of LFO’s “music” but if it walks like a duck and looks like a duck - it’s probably a duck. That is to say, any formulaic melding of pretty boys designed solely to make money, and provide preteen girls with mastubatory fantasies, and then labeled a “band” has got to suck, unless it’s the fluke of the universe.
But, yes yes, I freely admit I’m making a snap judgement about LFO.
P.S. - I crack you up? Aw shucks, thanks. That just warms the heart of my cockles.
Aw, now you’re picking on the Monkees.
If you haven’t heard LFO, just think a cross between 98 degrees (NSync, whatever) and The Fresh Prince. More rappy than your balladiers, and therefore less annoying in my book. At least there’s a synthisized beat to distract you from the vocals and actors.
I am SO glad I’ve never heard of these LFO people. As far as boy bands go, I love being totally out of the loop. I love not having kids. I love not watching MTV. And yes, I was listening to classical music when I was seven. That’s how I was brought up. At the moment I feel incredibly lucky.
Yes and no.
1 - Yes I think they were a joke as a band, but their TV show (which is what they were created for) was hilarious.
2- You can’t lump The Monkees into my definition because Mike Nesmith and Mickey Dolenz were butt-ugly.
Besides, that was the sixties - it was a magical time, man (that must be read in a George Carlin Hippy-Dippy voice)

BTW - when I was 7 my favorite band was The Jackson Five.

Shock Disbelief What? Ugly? I don’t think so. Now, Peter was a little goofy-looking, but it was a cute goofy-looking. Mickey-adorable. Mike-handsome.
I’m obviously not going to win any Monkee arguments with you. Ok, they were cute (diff’rent strokes I guess), so I will revert to my original argument and proclaim The Monkees as the fluke of the universe.
However I stand by my blind assessment of LFO, and my thourougly thought out criticisms of N’SYNC, which is, if you recall - they suck.
P.S. - Davy Jones was dreamy.
