I see the closed envelope means nothing new and an open envelope means new posts. Isn’t that the reverse of the normal meaning, e.g. on email programs?
Yeah, that is a little odd, isn’t it? Probably not worth fixing, though–people are used to the current usage.
If you look at the envelope icons, you’ll also see a thread that has a lot of play – a lot of responses in a short time and/or a lot of page views – will have a "stuffed "envelope.
It’s just how vb does things. Mostly I don’t even notice that kind of thing, so I don’t pay as close attention, I’m too busy waiting for my thread to load and etc. We did remove the really annoying version, which has flaming envelopes and etc. Believe me, this is better.
