Those perfect moments in music (with YouTube examples)

As many times as I have heard this (and other) version of The Doors - Riders On the Storm (Remastered HD) there’s this little moment when the subtlety of the drum break gets me every time. It comes at 4:44.

Does it affect you as a sublime moment?

Are there other instances like it that you can point to?

One other, even less subtle but equally “grabbing,” comes at 1:32 in So What by Miles Davis

Jim Morrison is… significantly less cool than I remember him.

Maybe his death was a result of him missing his honey so much.

Mahavishnu Orchestra - Open Country Joy

It starts off with this slow, walk in the country kind of vibe.
At 1:10 it suddenly takes off into this warp speed fusion-thing.
Then at 2:30 it comes back to the country–all on a single beat.
That sudden, sharp transition from warp speed to country stroll gets me every time.

Good one, dataguy, and worth listening to again for that moment to arrive.

One that always got me, back when it was on the air all the time, was the 1:20-1:33 moment in Can’t Take My Eyes off You - Frankie Valli and The 4 Seasons.

There were quite a few songs from that era like that.

Santana - Incident at Neshabur

At 3:00 he hits this long, sustained, soulful note that just blew me away the first time I heard it. It was so perfectly placed and so expressive.

I used to point this out to my friends and, at the time, I called it The World’s Baddest Note. Over time this has become part of his signature sound. But this one really stood out at the time.

Teach Your Children, with Jerry Garcia on slide guitar. At 2:36 (of 2:52)–that one perfect note.
