Is anybody else tired of these?
They portray electricity as a big dufus and propane as the answer to life the universe and everything.
One ad has electricity asking propane why he’s not allowed to cook. Propane tells him he’s too slow and he burns things. Electricity tries to brag about things he’s needed for: TV dinners, “blended things”, and toast (at which point he chomps downs on a carbonized piece of toast).
How can propane prepare “blended things”? I don’t recall ever seeing a propane toaster.
I hate these ads. And besides, why not use Hank Hill?
Let me tell ya, now that I live in the bum-f middle of nowhere and am on a propane tank, I can compare the two.
All I’ll say is that electricity doesn’t suddenly “run out” because the “electricity truck” didn’t make it out because the drive was too hung over the night before Christmas. And the electric company wouldn’t try to charge you “emergency service call rates” to come fill your “electricity tank” because of thier drunk truck driver.
While not as bad as the “dish vs. cable” issue, propane is still a pain in the ass that really shouldn’t be. Its one saving grace is that it makes fire with just a spark.
Personally, I find that my electricity-powered stereo has superior sound quality to the one that runs on propane.
A by product of gasoline, propane has become much quite expensive.
Allow me to be the first to plug Queens’ natural-gas distribution grid, one of the largest in North America. No damn propane tanks for my fire, thankyouverymuch.
Eep. Speaking as a guy who saw a propane store go up in flames on the news several weeks ago, I ask: Is this really a good idea?
Damn straight it’s a good idea. I’d rather have a large, computer-controlled, professionally maintained failsafe system with automatic pressure valves and sensors up the wazoo than a big rusting tank rolling around in the back of some dude’s pickup.
My first reaction as well. While the character would be more than willing, the price compared to the inept advertising firm that created these is probably astronomical.
