I love snow!
Of course, it helps that I pretty much never have to deal with it if I don’t want to. It looks like the last recorded snowfall in Sacramento was in 2007 (we didn’t get any at our house, though), and the all-time record snowfall was 3.5 inches, back in 1888. But there’s plenty of it (recent drought years notwithstanding) just an hour or two away up in the Sierras…
Your objection has been noted and filed in the appropriate location.
I like snow. Now that I’m an adult, and responsible for clearing a driveway, I have to confess that I don’t like that part, especially if it’s heavy and wet. But I love how bright the world looks, and how quiet it is, and I love it’s texture and fluffiness.
When I was a teen, I would go out barefoot in each new snowstorm. I still sometimes walk barefoot in the snow (briefly). It’s cold, but the feel of snow squishing between my toes is something special.
A few years ago I decided to stop complaining about winter, and do something fun and physical to embrace it. And because I have high energy dogs, I wanted it to be something that involved them, so I decided to try sledding with them. I have shepherds, so not typical northern breeds, but there are lots of off breeds that can pull. I found a used kicksled, got set up with lines and harnesses and started training my dogs to pull. The mushing community was incredibly welcoming and helpful, despite my lack of experience and non-standard dogs. My dogs will never pull like huskies, but it’s still fun to get outside for a run and I have a greater appreciation for snow now. Still hate driving in it, though.
Love it! Winter is my favorite time of the year.
All the snow I get to see I have to drive to, only a short distance to the Sierras, but there is always a chance it will snow closer to home.
Love it. In park city skiing this week. Need more snow but it looks like we have 5-8 in due Wednesday.
.
Yes! Anything over 60 and I wilt.
We have a plow guy for the driveway and my father does the shoveling, so apart from some white-knuckle commutes, I have it easy and can just enjoy the pretty snow.
I realized if I have to take over, I will need a snowblower so that was my gift to the house for Christmas.
Some forecast models are starting to show a decent snow event in the December 28-31 range here in the DC area. Depending on the model, anywhere from 6-16 inches are possible!
I’m a pessimist, so I assume this will all collapse at the last minute, but for the time being, I’m pretty pleased with the prospect of a light work week from home where I get to look at snow cover outside!
I don’t necessarily need as much as Cleveland historically gets, and I certainly don’t need as much as Bozeman (where I lived for over a decade) historically gets, but I don’t mind either, and I couldn’t live in any place that never got snow at all.
And it looks like we’re going to be getting significantly less snow going forward than we used to, anyway.
My only beef with snow is traveling in it. If I don’t have to go anywhere Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow.
I like cold weather much more than hot weather. You can always put more clothes on if need be, but there is a limit to how much you can take off, even if you ignore the proprieties.
“When it gets too hot, take off yo’ skin, and dance around in yo’ bones!”
I love snow, but…
I don’t have to live with it.
I lived in Jersey as a kid and moved south before I was old enough for snow to be a hassle.
I didn’t have to drive in it, shovel it or be responsible for anyone’s safety.
I have lived where we get snow once every few years. The whole town shuts down for a few inches of snow. It cool for a week every 3 years.
I adore snow - on TV, in pictures, at your house…
It will only be snow today, switching to the dreaded “wintry mix” after I am save home from work tonight. Tomorrow will be movies on the couch, watching the snow/rain/ice fall.
I love snow except for driving in it. The winter I left NJ it snowed 30 inches. I was off work so I could just enjoy it.
Here in the Bay Area we might see snow on the highest peak if we are lucky. We can go to the snow, but it is a bit far for something I grew up with. But I hope it does snows - a lot. I still have my snow shovels, and I could rent them out for a fortune.
We moved to New England from Texas about 20 years ago, and I still love snow. I love walking in it, I love seeing it, and yes, I still love shoveling it (every once in a great while I have to shovel at 3:30AM and I don’t love that, but I don’t resent it either).
My wife feels the same, and as the snow comes later and later (not necessarily less snow, but more volatile totals), we think about retiring further north to somewhere generally colder and regularly snowier.
