I’m sure I’ve saved a fair bit of money over the years by buying the male version of various items. Minoxidil, for example. My husband and I share the same bottle.
The one product I do currently purchase the feminine version of is Degree deodorant - they make that stuff in all different scents, and as it happens the one I like is marketed to women. I’ve decided I’ll pay a bit more for a scent I like.
Remember those Secret ads, “Strong enough for a man but made for a woman?” I’m a guy and stumbled on to Secret in the 90s somehow, and it was the best deodorant I had used so I stuck with it. My wife would occasionally bring home men’s deodorant for me, like “kerosene scented 4x4 Underarm Paste.” And I’d just go buy some baby powder scented Secret. Men’s deodorants that I’ve used are greasy and enhance body odor.
That’s my brand of choice. In my teens I went through a period of excessive perspiration so I had the heavy duty Certain Dri and Secret as a kind of moisturizer after application. It worked a charm, and while I no longer need Certain Dri I still use Secret Clinical Strength.
Yeah, that’s the issue. Pink Legos are great. Pink Legos for girls seems like a two back, especially for a company that used to constantly push how their toy has no gender preference.
If you have an explicit “for girls” product but no explicit “for boys” product, the implication becomes that the gender unlabeled produxr is “for boys.”
There are a couple of “men’s” brands that are pretty much the same thing, and also come in a neutral “unscented” version. I pick between them and "unscented " Secret based on price. Usually the men’s brands are cheaper. (That is, they are the same price but the men’s item contains more product) but it varies. I’m traveling now, and have a tube of Secret in my overnight case.
