For example, did you feel it, have any damage, get freaked-out, etc.
I was awake when it happened, because my cat woke me up before 6am to open the front room blinds (which he knows don’t get opened that early, but doesn’t care). Anyway, I was sitting on my bed, and I felt this wobble. I looked at the corner of the bed, and it was moving in a kind of circular fashion. The windchime in my bedroom doorway tinkled - it rarely does that. My first thought was that someone was under my bed (who thinks earthquake, if they don’t live on the west coast?).
Then I woke up my mom, who hadn’t felt anything. Neither had my cat, who’d lay chilling in the windowsill the whole time. I grabbed a knife and flashlight and established that there was no one under the bed. Only then did I check Twitter; I follow the local police scanner Twitter account - news often hits there first. Yep, earthquake!
So glad no one was hurt (that I know of). It occurred to me much later that if the earthquake had been closer, and stronger, I might have been in a world of sh*t, living on the 3rd floor of a 4-floor apartment building. But I’m not going to worry about that now. I’ve been in the area for about 35 years, and this is the first earthquake I’ve experienced. It’s rare, or so I’ve decided.
Didn’t think I was too bothered, but I found myself swaying while I was sitting this evening! Weirdest damn thing.
You don’t have to share - an earthquake may be quite mundane, depending on your location - but if you want to, that’s cool.
