So, now that Republicans have already given up even PRETENDING to be interested in unity and cooling the political climate, can Democrats stop word-policing each other and acting like it’s our fault a Republican shot another Republican?

No they didn’t. Some of them did. The analyses said that based on the polls Clinton would have about a 67% chance of winning.
In any event, this is the thread about ramifications of the shooting, not for discussion of the race in general. For ramifications of the shooting, we’d want to look at changes in the polls from just before the shooting to just after. And based on the data, there really isn’t any change. The fact that what the polls said before and after slightly favored Trump is irrelevant here; all that’s relevant is that they basically didn’t change.
Exactly correct. And all the Democratic doomsayers proclaiming that this gave DJT an automatic win have been shown to not know what they were talking about.
I’m still interested to see what type of bump the GOP ticket gets after the convention but that is also a topic for a different thread.
It’s been a year today. We’ll never know if JD Vance could have beaten Kamala Harris.
Vance would have been the likely substitute if history had turned out differently.
Vance-Harris 2028 is a distinct possibility, with Vance slightly more likely than Harris as a candidate (in my opinion).
Harris will probably run for CA governor in 2026. She said that she will decide by the end of summer. Newsome will be termed out and he will probably try for the Presidency in 2028.
I doubt if Kamala will be willing to run as JD’s vice presidential candidate.
