Thread ranking

Looking at the threads on this list, I started wondering what the ratio of “Views” to “Replies” told us about the thread?

So I did a quick ranking based on the V/R ratio (Views/Replies ratio), to see if I could see a pattern of what types of threads get high or low V/R ratios.

Below are the results. Judge for yourself. An interesting observation is that owlofcreamcheese is ranked 1st with a V/R of 90.5, which should say something about having a high V/R

I can’t really say I detect a general pattern, though. Does anyone else detect a pattern?

(Not sure if this belongs to GD, but since the rankings relate to GD threads, I thought this might be the place to put it)

I think a more appropriate ratio would be R/V. it would identify more response-provoking threads.

Yopu’re the one with the time on your hands, run it that way and see what it looks like.

It would just be the inverse of the existing ratio, so no new insight will be gained.

There are too many things that influence this. A lot of times a thread can have a low V/R number simply because everyone has given up on it except 2 individuals who have some dogfight going. Nobody looks at it except the final two, and they always reply.

One thing I’ve noticed is that it’s often religious threads that end up lasting the longest time on the first page.

Figure out a way to rate the quality of the debate, not the quantity.

Ture, but multiply by 100 and you get a % which is much easier for people to grasp. Doesn’t add any information (as you said) but it’s something people are used to looking at.

This one is easy to answer… it was CLOSED… but people peeped in to see what idiotic statements were made. Its hard to add replies to a closed thread

More importantly, how did you get that box thing in your post?

I want to have box things in my posts.

Damn, this cracked me up…

He used the [ CODE ] tags.
