I thought that thread titles that were bolded contained new posts since the last time I looked at the particular forum I am looking at, or since I last opened that particular thread.
I also thought that titles in the grey font were of threads that I had previously opened, and that titles in the dark blue font were of threads that I had not previously opened.
However, there are always a couple of thread titles for threads that I know that I have opened and even posted in before, that stay dark blue.
What am I missing or what sort of vbulletin bugs are getting passed my browser?
Are these threads you went to from the main page, instead of from the forum listings? The links aren’t exactly the same (as they point to the last post, rather than the top of the thread), so they will not be marked as visited (gray).
As for the bold, that’s something done on the server, and depends on the server not being too busy. If it is too busy, a cosmetic change such as that is one of the first things it ignores.
No, there are some threads (I perceive them to be randomly so) that are perpetually blue. Even in my subscribed threads list, after I have opened and read the last posts, that stay blue.
The greying of the thread titles you’ve visited is purely a function of your browser recognizing a link you’ve already visited. It has nothing to do with the bulletin board software.
If you read the board on different computers or in different browsers, previously read threads won’t be greyed if they were read on the other machine.
Well, that’s something your browser does, so I’d suspect a problem there. Sorry I can’t be more specific. If it’s the same URL you’ve already visited, it should turn gray.
I can open a blue thread and then advance to the forum list or my subscribed list and it will still be blue. This happens for about 2-3 threads per forum. All on the same machine.
