Darn - it seemed to work in preview.

Testing an auto-parsing URL with quotes in it:

http://www.altavista.com/cgi-bin/query?q=“Alpha+Eridani”

Testing same link with url tag:

Search for me!

Testing same link with escape sequences for quotes:

http://www.altavista.com/cgi-bin/query?q="Alpha+Eridani"
