But, yeah, the racist shit, whether about blacks, whites, or any other group, is starting to smell up the board. I’m still new here, but I have a definite opinion about all that: If you can’t make a valid point without trying to hurt someone, it isn’t a valid point.
Nothing against you NoClue. I find language threads fascinating, but there cannot be a thread about blacks (in the general or the specific) without somebody posting about how eeeeeeeeevil (or stupid or lazy or criminal or whatever) black people are.
Threads in GD explaining in painful detail some bizarre theory involving seemingly baffling mathematics.
You open the thread out of curiosity, read the OP, read the OP again but give up half-way through, and then assume that it such a complex theory that your feelbe mind couldn’t possibly comprehend it.
Then you start reading some of the replies and responses, and begin to think that it isn’t just you that thinks the OP is either a crackpot or someone who like typing bullsh*t dressed up as complex math.
It would be improper to name any names of course, but I’m sure regulars of GD will have an idea of the posters I’m talking about.
This might be off topic, but I also hate the people who reply to posts with things like “I can’t believe people ask questions about this stuff when really it’s a personal decision.” If the person replying is so annoyed by the OP, I guess they shouldn’t bother to reply!
I don’t mind “Time Travel” threads. I’d go back in time if I could. If time travel is invented someday, I want to be ready.
I don’t like threads on the topic of “I said/did something stupid to my boyfriend/girlfriend/best friend. How I can I correct it?” I don’t feel qualified to give advice because I wasn’t there when the mistake was made, and I don’t know the other person’s side of the story.
Won’t for me. The elastic on my FTL’s is way too worn out to travel anything close to 386,000 miles per second.
I too completely avoid religious discussions in the GD forum. What’s the point in debating faith: you either have it or you don’t…case closed.
On the other hand, I like the race discussions. I do more lurking than posting in them and play a little game to see if I can guess the reply based on user name. Because of both human / ideological predictability as well as the fact it’s quite often the same cast of characters, I’d estimate my “predictability rate” is up in the 70% range.
Sex threads? Like a moth to flame. Anyone know whatever happened to that female poster (the name escapes me) who (back around a year ago) used to start oral sex threads at least 3X a week?
I miss her
