Firstly, a threat is a threat when it is perceived as a threat. When you’re talking about shutting down part of the Chicago Reader’s livelihood, no matter how innocent the comment, I know I’d take it as a threat if I were them. You can’t weasel out of that one.
Second - sounds like repentance to me. The problem, Urge, is that when you made an error and it was pointed out to you, regardless of the context, instead of sucking it up and immediately saying, “yeah, you’re right, I’m sorry,” you lashed back, whined, and generally made a pain in the ass of yourself until it took 367+ posts before you did catch a clue.
But, hey, I’m willing to start over, if you are sincere that you will change your trollish ways and stop whining every time somebody lambasts you - it happens to everybody, and I can guarantee that if you’re planning to stay, it’s going to happen for quite a while to you before people change their minds. Suck it up or get out - your choice.

I’m not trying to imply any of those things. Here’s my point. You seem like you have potential to contribute. Throwing a tantrum will not help. If you can ask/answer questions, more power to you. If you are immature, that is your situation to deal with, not ours.
My suggestion:
Stop ALL the drama in the pit and ATMB. Stop apologizing. Stop It all. Just head to GQ/MPSIMS/GD and contribute something worthwhile.
The best course of action would now be to quit posting to any of these threads in the pit that deal with you. Let them sink off the page. If anyone else posts to them let it go.
Quit posting to all of your other threads that have degenerated into a debate on your ability and worth. Those, too, will slide away.
If you truly want to start over, leave the current threads alone and start new threads that don’t deal with issues regarding your being picked on, what other posters think, etc.
The board, as a whole, gives chances to a poster willing to make a fresh start, even after being a somewhat irritating poster. Heck, for a while, Michael Masterson was given a second chance.

O.K. Urge, you got it. Here’s your second chance. I have never been one to beat up on people, and I won’t start now. Here’s how to go about it. First, follow the above suggestion and let all these threads slide into obscurity, m’kay?
Second, post a topic that is light and/or interesting in MPSIMS or ask a question in GQ that you don’t know the answer to. ( NOT the 'gry question or anything about felching.
Third, monitor the thread, post replies, * in a way that you would not be ashamed to converse with your mother*. ( hopeing your mom is not a Harley riding biker babe :){that was a joke. It was not a dig or attack at you or your mother. Please try to understand it as such})
Fourth, reply to any threads that interest you in these forums. Remeber several rules.
#1 HAVE FUN. Why else are you here?
#2 Disagreements are NOT personal attacks. If you do encounter a personal attack, ask a Moderator to take the thread to the pit or, better yet, ignore it completely. Remember such attacks say nothing about you and everything about the person who attacked you.
#3 Don’t be afraid to say you don’t know, and leave it at that. Something like ’ I dunno, anyone got any ideas? " is perfect.
#4 If you feel you must, apologise once, then let it go. Too much comes off as either whining or looking for marterdom.
#5 Don’t be arrogent. WE realize that you probobly have a lot to add here, accept that you have a lot to learn too.
#6 Remember, HAVE FUN.
#7 Do the best you can with typos, spelling and grammar. Perfection is not expected, an effort is.
Last, and this is just a personal suggestion, stay out of The Pit and GD for a while. There are VERY big sharks in those waters, and most folks ( including me when I was new ) need to work up to them. This is not to say that you can’t go there, or that you wouldn’t be a good poster there, it’s just a friendly suggestion that you get your feel wet before you swim with the sharks.
