Three Card Poker

One of my casino sims has this nifty game. Explaining the rules here would be cumbersome, and I’m sure that people who are qualified to answer this question are familiar with the game anyway.

Ahem.

I always come out ahead when playing this game, in the long run that is. IOW, if I play for a couple of hours at the $5 table I’ll generally make a couple hundred dollars or more.

Now, I understand that the world of an actual casino isn’t quite what happens in a sim, but still… So, have I hit upon a game like Blackjack, where a skilled player has an ever-so-slight advantage over the casino? Or am I likely to lose my shirt if I ever got up the cójones to play it in a real casino?

Finally, does anybody know the general casino/player edge in this game?

well, this site has the gaming odds for TCP and it definitely has a house advantage.
Perhaps the rules are different for your computer and this website, or even this website and the casino. Often casinos will modify rules slightly (usually to their advantage, but not always (you’d be amazed what some casinos have done in the past thinking they still have the advantage)).

Anyway, what do you consider the “long run”? There are some mathematical formulas by Sklansky and Malmuth explaining how it’s possible for good, or even great, players to hit a very long losing streak. It’s very possible for luck to run well for a long time and let players playing with -ev (negative expected value), to win big despite playing wrong.
