I’m afraid it’s just too scary to even go to big concerts events anymore.
From Trump’s attempted assassination to Ariana Grande and many more.
People die. And it’s awful.
My daughter is the Biggest Swift fan you ever met. She calls her Tay-tay.
I’m not so much a fan. I’ve heard so so much of the music. So it’s not like I don’t know it. And I know how devoted her fan base is.
To fly to another country to pay for an overpriced ticket to stand among the screaming fans and not really hearing her seems a bit much.
But, hey, if that’s what they wanna do, it’s fine with me.
I’m happy they caught the scheme before those guys could carry out the plan.
Sorry for not keeping up with current events… what’s this about a shooting at an Ariana Grande concert? I hadn’t heard about it, tried googling “ariana grande concert shooting” and all I got were results for incidents in 2017 and 2022. And at least one of those appears to have been a bombing, not a shooting. Anybody got a link or can give me a what-where-when recap?
I initially got the impression from the OP that this had something to do with threats or violence at an Ariana Grande concert. Whatever that may have been about, it had nothing to do with this. This was about a plot by several young ISIS-inspired radicals to carry out suicide bombings at a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna. Police were tipped off by foreign authorities including the US and arrested three suspects, two of whom were definitely involved and a 15-year-old whose role wasn’t clear but may only have been a witness.
Yes I was wrong. It was a bombing. (I think Ariana is in Wicked! on Broadway, at the moment or soon)
I was just meaning the events are targeted. Soft targets are getting more and more dangerous to attend. Think I’ll stay home.
What I heard this morning the suspects were on social media and got radicalized by
some ISIS outfit, and the plan was to blow themselves up at or near a Taylor concert. (Yeah, like Wolfpup said)
Got it. I thought there was a recent incident at an Ariana Grande concert that was the reason for Taylor Swift cancelling shows.
Yeah, pretty much any event with a large crowd has the potential to be a target for violence these days, whether it’s sports or music or a parade or whatever. That, unfortunately, is the world we live in now.
The thing I don’t understand is what point they thought they were making. According to today’s Times, their goal was to kill as many fans as they could before they got killed. To what end? I mean, they must have had some purpose in mind. No?
I mean, if you really hate western culture and you want to eradicate a bunch of western infidels in the name of whatever they think Islam is*, a good place to find a huge number of western infidels is a TS concert.
