Eh, one person’s funny is another person’s stupid. I saw a mention in the MPSIMS thread about this that mentioned kids who were safe at a Holiday Inn Express, and it seemed to me like there was a joke waiting to emerge from that thought.

People are dead. Young people are dead. Parents of young people are dead. This was a senseless act of mass violence perpetrated against some of the most vulnerable people in our society, calculated such as to cause maximum chaos.
I’m not unsympathetic to the victims and their families. They do have my sympathies and condolences. I suppose that, not just in bad taste, but I also jumped in with gallows humor too soon.
I’m not going to try to justify the joke. Retrospect shows it was a little too…much, for lack of a better word. I will point out that gallows humor often comes almost immediately after an event. I remember hearing jokes about Christa McAuliffe right after the Challenger exploded.

When it comes to anything about Islam, you’re an outright fuckwit. Of course one should not rush to judgment; only bigots–and you really are one–do that. There are plenty of terrorist groups of whatever religious stripe, including Islamic, currently active. Got news for you: just because a group claims responsibility for a crime does not mean they actually had any involvement in it. The intelligent thing to do is what the British authorities are doing: investigate and make a determination based on evidence. And if the killer was Muslim, that does not in any way excuse condemning Muslims who had nothing to do with this attack.

Of course certain minorities will be more oppressed after events like this horrible attack. Bigots love to leap into action and to hell with what happens to other innocents, because, after all, “We gotta do something!”
Perhaps this may have escaped your notice: groups such as ISIS want Muslims in western countries to be oppressed. That lends credence to the narrative advanced by those groups.

ISIS is claiming one of their ‘soldiers’ (which is code for some guy in a foreign country who pledged themselves to ISIS but why they never heard of until the attack and who ISIS probably thinks is a dip shit) did the deed, though there doesn’t seem to be much evidence except their claim. I would say rushing to judgment is never wise…we will probably know all the details in a few days.
Not sure this is a ‘new low’. Children have been directly targeted by terrorists even in the recent past. I recall in China a group of knife-wielding terrorists managed to kill over 100 young children (grade school) a couple of years ago. This attack is, perhaps, more shocking to some (you, seemingly) because it happened in the UK…but terrorists have been doing their sick shit all over the world for decades now and kids have been the direct target several times.
Yeah, I tend to agree…anyone who can do stuff like this in the name of any god is seriously deluded as well as being evil and just stupid.
This is a lot easier to say than live, I think. I seriously doubt this guy in the UK really knows much about oppression in any case. But, yeah, the end result of this will probably be yet more retaliatory attacks. Of course, that’s what groups like ISIS desperately want, so it’s kind of a vicious cycle.
Sadly, there are no new lows for terrorists and other monsters. As XT has pointed out, children have often been targeted by depraved people.

One deranged punk shot dead 20 elementary kids in Sandy Hook. In 2001 some sad fucker stabbed 8 children to death at the Ikeda Elementary School not far from where I live.
Sure, fuck anyone who would do such vicious things in the name of religion, but are you angry at them for their vicious deeds or for the particular religion that they may or may not have been devoted to?
16 children (and a teacher) were shot and killed at Dunblane in 1996, and Timothy McVeigh was responsible for the death of 19 children in the Federal Building daycare center in Oklahoma City. People crazy enough to commit mass murder rarely care how old their victims are.
