Three teens+baseball bat < old fart with handgun

Someone* I know once told me a story of three guys trying to mug him in the parking lot behind his place of business. It started with “Hey man, you got any money?” and escalated to “Give us your money.” and eventually one of them pulled a (large) knife, saying “Do you know what this is?” The someone in question pulled out his gun and said “Yeah, it usually loses in a fight with one of these.” …longpause… “Hey… do YOU have any money?”

As it happened, they had $34 and change among them.

I believe this incident clearly illustrates the need for more stringent bat control. Tighter bat registration laws and possibly an aluminum bat ban is called for. Realistically however, I suspect the Republicans will negotiate these issues for earmarks towards ammunition manufacturer subsidies.
