Thunderbirds practicing right outside my window!

Oh geez, how am I supposed to get any work done with this going on??

Awesome stuff

Are you talking about the Supermarionation guys?

That’s so cool! I can’t wait to see them Saturday.

Hey, the Thunderbirds are practicing right outside my window too!

Those guys must really get around!

The Blue Angels have flown near my work (and home) for training

You all must be in Rancho Cordova(?) - California Capital Air Showis this weekend, for those wondering.

When I worked in that area I was able to see, hear, and FEEL them practicing.

Cool stuff!

Lucky buggers. I’d love to see the* Thunderbirds or Blue Angels *in action. I caught the *Red Arrows *here about eleven years ago & I’ve seen the Roulettes quite a few times and they are both amazing to watch but they are flying trainers not fighters.

It can be a unique experience to have an especially close ring-side seat to watch them practicing.

Several years ago, I was in the Marin County area, when the Blue Angels practiced for their Fleet Week air show, which is held directly above the San Francisco Bay just in front of the Fisherman’s Wharf area.

I went up to the Marin Headlands area, to one of those old WWII fortification ruins, and watched from there. This is in a hill side, the top of which the planes flew directly over at very low altitude (above the hill top). Now that’s a ring-side seat!

ETA: To clarify: I watched them there the day before, when they practiced, AND again on the day of the show.

I’m sure they’re no Snowbirds. :stuck_out_tongue:

Fun and games in Melbourne last year when we had a “flock?” of Blackhawks doing maneuvers among the the buildings. Cool to watch them do an emergency pick up from Parliament house roof. We also have had a few jets come screaming through the city. I remember it happening in Feb 2000 and boy were we shitscared.

Back when the Fort Lauderdale Air and Sea Show was a HUGE two day event, I worked downtown on the sixth floor of a building, on the approach to the show area. So we’d see all the planes go by, including the Thunderbirds. Not much work got done the Friday before the show.

Well, not of course not. They’re Thunderbirds. It’s an entirely different kind of plane altogether.

The Red Arrows are about the only ones I haven’t seen. Abbotsford in '86 was amazing; the Snowbirds, Blue Angels, Patrouille de France, Frecce Tricolori (Italy), and Esquadrilha da Fumaça (Brazil). One day, after the official show was over, one plane from each team took off and they flew in formation.

Went up in the Columbia Center in Seattle once on the day the Blue Angels were practicing for Seafair. They were coming by right at eye level.

Googles Bloody hell! The Red Arrows were here in 1996! Where did that go?

The Roulettes are actually a fairly common sight here. They seem to do flybys quite often - the last time I saw them was 2 weeks ago. They were cruising around at low level in formation for an open-day at ADFA (our version of West Point/US Navy Academy/USAF Academy rolled into one).

I was thinking the Fabulous Thunderbirds, “Tough Enough”, etc…

Blue Angels flew over my house during their local performance this summer. Cool stuff.

Lucky sod !

Mind you, you could always ring up the airbase and tell them to get off of your lawn !
