I saw this a few nights ago. Why does Jeff Bridges character die? (I missed part of the movie towards the end when I went to make a sandwich.) It looks like he suffered from some sort of stroke that got progressively worse until he ends up dead in Clint Eastwoods car. Was there a reason for this?
After the botched safe job, there is a police chase and Bridges gets shot, he clings to life but it slowly fades away.
this is one of my favorite movies, I still want a white '71 el dorado with red leather interior.

I thought he died slowly from complications of the blow he took when George Kennedy punched him?
He died from the beating Kennedy gave him.
The guy in the trunk died from being shot.
You folks are right, man i’m getting old, well as they say the memory is the second thing to go.
