The Valley Of Gwangi. Cowboys & Dinosaurs!!1

YEE-HAW!

Yeah, was an attempt to spell out the trilling whistle followed by the harmonica. Hard to do that, tried about four different spellings, that was the best I feel.

A few not yet mentioned:

The Searchers
The Gunfighter
I Shot Jesse James

I’m shocked that it’s taken about 20 replies before we got to “Once Upon a Time in the West.” That opening scene is one of the crowning moments of cinematic history. Absolutely beautiful, perfect movie. And Claudia Cardinale. drool In fact, it’s the only Western I’ve ever been able to sit through. One of my fav movies of all time.

Silverado was great but The Outlaw Jose Wales is the best.

Jose Wales: “It seems to me that when ever I get to liking someone they die.”

The old indian: “It seem to me that when ever you get to dis-liking someone they die.”

or something like that

Lol, it has some of the best movie quotes ever. My favorite is, “Dyin’ ain’t much of a living boy”. Here’s more.

High Noon

Dances with Wolves

(and if think that’s bad…) Wyatt Earp (Yes the Costner one)
Unforgiven

Magnificent 7

(John Wanye and) The Cowboys

I’m shocked and appalled that no one has mentioned The Three Amigos or City Slickers yet.

Sunset! James Garner as Wyatt Earp!! Oh, Bruce Willis, too. :slight_smile:

Maverick, both for Mel Gibson (I’m a big Mel Gibson fan) and James Garner.

Any western can be made better by the addition of James Garner. Maybe even Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, which is pretty damn good already.

I`ve posted this one in another thread, but what the hell: The Quick and the Dead, because Gene Hackman shoots Leonado Di Caprio.

For the rest, in no particular order:
All the Clint Eastwoods mentioned, plus High Plains Drifter and Two Mules For Sister Sara Rio Bravo Eldorado 3:10 from Yuma {Written by Elmore Leonard, no less. Pisses on Shane} Dead Man {the only Western to feature Iggy Pop, and it was Robert Mitchums last movie. Cool Neil Young Soundtrack, too.}
Othello {Not yet a Western, but I`m still waiting hopefully}

Rustler’s Rhapsody, anyone?

I doubt anyone else is.

Top pick would be The Wild Bunch.

I’ve always liked Little Big Man and One-Eyed Jacks* too.

Does Hot Shots count?

  • RIP Katy Jurado.

Some more votes for How the West Was Won, Outlaw Josey Wales and Little Big Man.

Nobody likes Hombre? Good gods, if you haven’t seen this movie, rent it! Totally awesome…

Does Dead Man count as a western? If so, it’s definately up there for me.
