Tiger blowing the Chevron World Cup

Tiger went into today with a 4 stroke lead over McDowell. He was sailing along and looked much looked the Tiger of old. He is now 2 strokes back and 2nd place is in peril. He has had at least three 3 putts. He just double bogied a par 5.
He was starting to get the aura back but he is blowing it all up now.

Well it is a playoff. Back to 18 again.

Wow, what a great putt! I’m time delayed, so I’m not quite live.

Well Mr. Tiger “I have too much wood” is inside on 19. Graeme needs another tough putt.

Damn. What a load on Tiger.

Again!!!

McDowell mus bt on the top of the world right now. A few Guinesses tonight?

He said that is the plan. Go home and tip a few.

Right now, Tiger is just another good player, top 10. He was in a groove for three days, and despite his lip service, he has to be in doubt about this “new” swing. It did not hold up under pressure. The swing on 2nd shot on 16 was horrible, absolutely horrible.

The smart money is that Tiger will make his 2011 debut in San Diego, late January. At that time, he could be ranked as low as 5th in the world rankings. Kaymer, Furyk, Stricker, Mickelson will have already played and each will have opportunity to pass him in the rankings. Westwood has a big lead on him as of tomorrow and he is not losing as many points per week as Tiger is.

And the same system that kept Tiger atop of the rankings for most of the year, is going to weigh him down like a lead balloon in 2011. he is going to have to drag the baggage of 2010 all throughout 2011. if he doesn;t start winning right away in 2011, he could be out of the top 10 by the time the Masters comes along.

And lets not forget, although the Chevron was a “stellar” field, but it was only 18 players. And most of the Americans in the field hadn’t played in a least three weeks, Stricker/Furyk hadn’t played in two months.

I think Tiger has been working like a maniac. He was as ready as he could be.

Agreed, this was his last chance for redemption in 2010. “No Soup For You”

Right now, he is just another good golfer.

That’s a somewhat funny statement. How many PGA card-carrying players are there? Top 10 in that select crew seems to be more than “just another good player,” yes?

Read whatever you want to into the statment. It was intentionally vague.

He needs to get his brain back. this would have been a great start, He could have had the players thinking “oh oh he is coming back” But the loss takes that away.He looks beatable.

Assuming Tiger starts his 2011 season in San Diego next year, his OWGR average will have fallen to 7.12. As of today Kaymer and Mickelson average are above that, but there ranking will also be falling.

Stricker/Furyk/Mickelson/Kaymer/McDowell will have all made their season debuts and each will have had an opportunity to overtake Woods in the rankings.

Casey and Donald would have an outside shot as well, but they probably need a win and a good result in another tournament.

It will be interesting to see how Tiger takes to dropping down the list. If this week is an indication, he will fight to get it back.

Man, am I sorry I missed that. Had the afternoon free, and was even in the mood to watch some golf, but decided against it when I read the paper that a.m. Figured NO WAY he’d give up a 4-stroke lead.
