Anyone ever had their bath and wall tile re-glazed? As I understand it, you can change the color of the existing tile and end up with a ‘new’ bathroom at quite a lot less than bringing in a new tub, and tearing out your old tile. Is it a do it yourself project? Ore, is it cheap enough to let a ‘pro’ do it?
What do you consider cheap? I think it costs several hundred dollars to have it done professionally.
OK, I Googled it, and found that it is NOT a do it yourself project due to the chemicals used. Also, the bath tub and tile replacement is going to run in the thousands, as oppossed to the hundreds with a reglaze. I’m looking for anyone with personal knowledge, because all I Google is advertisements from companies.
I had my bath refinished in my previous house (it was an odd size, so it was the only option.
They sprayed it with two base coats and a finish coat, I’m not sure what they used, but it was most unsatisfactory - about a week after it was done, my toenail scraped off a strip of the coating that was an inch long by a quarter inch wide - it was very soft and flexible, like PVC.
I called them back and they stripped it and refinished again (making excuses about it being traced to a bad batch), but it wasn’t really any better.
