Time for a new website...no...not leaving here

Hi All. about 10 years ago, I asked people to recommend a website I can visit. I generally visit The Straight Dope for education on things, then a couple of news sites.
I was recommended Reddit back then, which I enjoyed, but its gone severely downhill from when I first found out about it.

So, I put it to the teeming masses…can you recommend a nice website that I can spend some time on, both for entertainment and education?

Looking forward to the next generation of my internet journey.

Wikipedia has an option for a random article and that’s a good way to learn about various topics.

Check out the StackExchange network. It’s slanted towards IT but there’s also sites for politics, food, history, personal finance, gardening, etc.

Pocket is wide ranging. That was suggested to imply I am cultured.

Between the NYT, NPR (I read, not listen) and of course, SD, I can now waste an entire day, late into the night. Very late into the night. Soon to be very, very late into the night.

I know, why would I need to waste MORE time?

In fact, I have to physically pry myself away from here so I can get some sleep before dawn…

Me? Dope, CNN, Dope, Dope, Talking Points Memo, Dope, MacResource forums, Dope, Dope, Gir…naah, back to the Dope.

I guess it depends on what type of “entertainment and education” you’re looking for. I know a few sites, but I’d have to put them in spoiler boxes…

It’s Dope, Dope, Dope for me.
Except…a big EXCEPT: I’ve recently been enticed by a no less than a ‘pusher’…a ‘friend-Doper’ to check out ‘Forge of Empires’. Of course, now I’m addicted.
Why oh why didn’t I ‘just say No!’?
:sunglasses:

What makes it seem like I pull myself away from Dope before dawn ? You are soooo cute.

Our result is the same-only the precise choreography varies. Me? NYT, Dope, NPR (written), Dope, Dope, maybe a few others quickly(CNN, AP, Time), Dope, Dope, Dope, dawn. A brief foray into the Guardian when offered.

I’m intrigued, now I have to go dip my toes into your MacAdvisor.

Regards to you and yours

Are you interested in sites just to read? One of my personal favorites is Granola Shotgun. The author is a San Francisco architect and city planner, who pens a variety of articles about sustainable neighborhoods, zoning, interspersed with the real-life effects and work-arounds he and his neighbors are experiencing.

It’s actually more interesting than my description sounds, and I’ve (literally) gone to his archives and read every article starting in Jan 2014. His only foray into politics involves downstream effects (he refuses to argue either side) and he covers a lot of unintended consequences from various approaches to homelessness, NIMBY, with a lot of photographs.

Most interesting recent article, imo: The Devil’s Cleaning Lady.
